Pemenang Festival Film Cannes ke-77 diumumkan pada upacara gala pada Sabtu malam 25 Mei 2024.
Sean Baker memenangkan Palme d’Or untuk filmnya Anora. Baker adalah pembuat film Amerika pertama yang meraih hadiah utama festival tersebut sejak Terrence Malick mendapatkan Palme untuk The Tree of Life pada tahun 2011.
Anora adalah film Neon kelima berturut-turut yang memenangkan hadiah utama Cannes, setelah Anatomy of a Fall, Triangle of Sadness, Titane, dan Parasite.
Cerita tentang sebuah romansa angin puyuh yang gaduh antara seorang penari eksotis (Mikey Madison) dan putra seorang oligarki Rusia (Mark Eydelshteyn) yang sangat kaya.
Neon belum menetapkan tanggal rilis di AS untuk film tersebut, namun diperkirakan distributor akan meluncurkannya pada awal Oktober, seperti yang mereka lakukan untuk pemenang Palme sebelumnya, sebuah slot yang telah terbukti sukses baik untuk musim penghargaan maupun di box office. .
